NOMO is an app designed to tackle household food loss and waste in the United States and reduce environmental harm in the comfort of your own home.
In my 2023 Sustainable by Design class, we were tasked with the challenge of identifying a real-life problem and brainstorming to find an effective solution that can be applied.
As a Brand Designer of the team, I took part in developing a conceptual sustainable solution in the form of an app by crafting a cohesive brand identity and brand strategy as well as building a series of conceptual digital and social media assets targeted towards sustainability and household food loss as the core topic(s).

Timeline
January 2023 - May 2023 (5 months)
Through this amazing 5-month team effort in developing this project as well as studying from George Switzer himself over the course of the semester, I personally gained more insights & knowledge in:
> Food Loss and Waste (FLW) as a household and global issue
> Corporate ESG and Sustainability
> System Dynamics
> Five Dimensions of Building Ecology (DimBE)
> Building an inventory tracking app (special shoutout to Jeymi Gomez and Dolma Sherpa!)
> Creating an environment for collaboration -> online and in-person team meetings
> Expanding into various types of brand experiences beyond an idea (app -> social media, posters, ads, etc.)
ResourceFull, created by AnnieCannons, empowers survivors of human trafficking through an interactive digital platform offering local services, educational tools, and support networks.
During my 12-week internship at AnnieCannons as a User Experience Designer, I was responsible for expanding ResourceFull through: redesigning the Services screen, organizing program information based on color coded filter tags, and most importantly, implementing a new feature called MyMatches that allows survivors to find resources faster by building out their profile details.

Reflecting On....
Usability testing
While conducting usability test sessions in the last four weeks of my internship, I was starting to get interesting feedback and insights from the participants. However, I was not able to conduct as much user testing sessions as I wanted due to time constraints.
If I had the time, I would have put more effort into conducting more user tests and making sure that the ResourceFull team had enough information in order to move forward to further developing MyMatches as a cohesive and complete app feature.
Execution
I spent a lot of time going back to the drawing board during early user tests because after getting feedback from participants, I would often think of a new design approach that could be closer to the ideal solution.
I learned that getting feedback early and often was important because it guided me toward simpler implementations; that by the final Figma prototype was presented, felt more comforting and warm to the participants. Despite the struggles, I am happy with my contributions as I’ve gained new confidence in following the UX process and implementing my research into execution.
Potential Next Steps
If I had more time as a UX Design Intern at ResourceFull/AnnieCannons, these would be my potential next steps:
> Create more complex interactions on Figma prototype for unauthenticated users
> Implement high-contrast visual icons within filter tags in order to account for red-green colorblind users
> Redesign program cards based on feedback - adding new interactive accordion for additional program details/filter tags
> Coordinate more usability testing sessions based on insights and feedback gathered
> Communicate with ResourceFull engineers to anticipate issues or concerns in adding features based on the redesigns.

As a frequent user of this product, I felt compelled to create a passion project about this brand - consisting of conceptual marketing assets surrounding these earbuds. I developed packaging, digital ads, and print deliverables that emphasized comfort, modern lifestyle, and tech-forward design. The visual language aimed to balance clarity and sophistication, helping position the product as both functional and fashionable for on-the-go users such as myself.

Located at Metropolitan Pavilion in the heart of Chelsea, MoCCA Fest is NYC’s largest independent comics and cartoon festival, drawing over 9,000 attendees each year.
I had the opportunity to join an alliance of CUNY Queens College artists to table at MoCCA Fest and promote everyone's individual artistic talents. From February 2023 to March 2024, I took part in creating an eye-catching banner design for the table and designing social media templates for online promotion purposes.
